Day 10: Youths Unite, For 1Malaysia! :D

What do you think of 1Malaysia? Please explain your answer (likes, dislikes, emotions etc) in details. What is your vision of Malaysia in the next 5 years?

Well, I think 1Malaysia is a pretty relevant concept if every single one of us Malaysians work towards that direction and give it all we have to make it a success. Honestly speaking, there's absolutely nothing to dislike about 1Malaysia. If it's done in a proper manner and benefits us Malaysians as a nation and brings people of different race, culture, creed and religion together, then I'd say 1Malaysia is a success! As a civic-minded citizen of Malaysia, I'd just like to say I am absolutely proud to be a Malaysian, hear me scream it out loud throughout the Internet!!! I mean, if you think about it, what's not to like? With the diverse culture, community and the friendly disposition of the citizens in Malaysia I can safely say Malaysia's one of the best places to be in! With the likes of assorted Malay, Chinese and Indian food, Malaysia is a melting pot of cultures all in one (I liken it to the Milo Fuze 3-in-1) :P. Tell me again, do I have a crazy imagination, or what? ;D From traditional clothes to food and even to languages, we as Malaysians share everything and we are no longer individual races fighting against one another. However, we are now UNITED AS ONE, WE ARE MALAYSIANS with one mission and one cause, to become the best nation the world has ever seen!

What do you think about the various races in this country? Do you think about your race or country first? Why? Do you think there is a tension between the various races in this country or not?

I have plenty of Indian and Malay friends in school and believe me I have absolutely no problems with them. By having various races in a school, we are actually indirectly strengthening the bond between these students and ensuring every one of us DO NOT discriminate among one another. And of course I think about my country first. Malaysia should be placed as the number 1 priority in the hearts of every citizen. Why you ask? What would your race be today, if it wasn't for the country that helped you bring up your race? How would have your race developed and modernized over the years if it wasn't for Malaysia? Let me answer that for you. You'd be absolutely nowhere! :) And no, I don't think there's a tension between races in our country. We see Chinese people hugging Indians. Indians hugging Malays and Malays hugging Chinese all the time! :)

How do you think people from all over the world see Malaysia? Do you think there is a typical “Malaysian” stereotype? How would you want people to view “Malaysians” in the future?

Nope there is no stereotype Malaysian look! We Malaysians are really diverse people and every individual has a unique look. You could be a Chindian, You could be a Mindian or even a Mamak! :D Well, people around the world generally view Malaysians as very hospitable people, however, they often have this initial mindset that we are horrible at speaking English. It just hurts me to see that other countries look so poorly upon our language capabilities :( If I had a choice I'd hope that people will look at Malaysians with a sense of respect and give us due credit for our achievements. We may be a small country but we are big at heart! :) And as far as 1Malaysia is concerned, I am confident, if we put in alittle effort and really do our bid to make the nation a better place, I'm sure it'll happen. It's just the question of how much do we really want it. :) To end my last blog post I'd like to attach a photo really meaningful to myself and I'd probably keep this photo till the day I part with Earth :) Goodbye, YouthSays! Day 9: To Brand, Or Not To Brand? :)

Is branded products important to you? What does brand represent to you?

Oh yeah! Brands are of utmost importance to teens nowadays! I mean its not just a name, its the prestige of it all and probably the name has some bearing on the quality of the product. :)

Are there any brands that you think stand up for something (an attitude/cause or point of view) that you agree with? Tell us more. What brands do who think are the best at communicating with youth? What do they do that gets your approval?

Yes, there are many brands nowadays that are gearing towards the youth of today by doing all sorts of community projects among youths just to create awareness among youths about their brand :D A good example would probably be DiGi, Nike, Adidas and even Apple :)

List down your favourite brands and tell us why do you like them

Maxis! – Because its the No.1# mobile phone service provider in Malaysia!! :D

Apple! – Because of their innovation in creating products which blow the world away like the iPhone and iPad. Rock on, Steve Jobs! :)

Nike and Adidas – Sports brand of the century guys! What's not to like? :)

Can you upload two advertisements (picture or video) that you like and tell is why you like it.






Why I like em'? Well, these advertisements depict the creativity adn the innovation of the people of today. I'm pretty sure these ads appeal to loads of teens ;)

Are there any brands or products that you would be embarrassed of using or being associated with?

Nahhh, I think every brand has its pros and cons and we shouldn't be embarrassed about being associated with any product. The worst would probably being associated with Mami Poko Pants Pampers! :D

Does religion influence your choice of brands? If ‘yes’ explain your answer.

Nope, I don't see why it should. As a united country, we as Malaysians shouldn't discriminate among one another.

What/where do you find new information about products that you like?

Once a again the Internet and television! I can't stress enough the importance of the internet in a teen's life! Without it, we wouldn't be the people we are today! :D

Day 8: What Do You Like? :D

Tell us about 3 things that you have seen, read or listened to recently that you love and have recommended or share with others (in Facebook, face to face conversations, online, etc)?

Well, viral videos made available on Youtube are one of the wackiest stuff you could ever recommend to your friends! And I'm pretty much more of a video guy than a reading guy. As I said earlier, I'm not so much into reading ;) Let me just give you a rough idea of what I think is worth sharing online especially on Facebook through my eyes :D







What is on your ‘must see’, ‘must do’ and ‘must have’, list for 2010?

You could probably say I'm a materialistic guy when it comes to gadgets. If you say "must do", I've got nothing much to say, but if you say "must have", I've got a whole list that would blow your mind. Just hand me the credit card and I'm sure your card would reach its limit within hours :) Well for 2010, my "must have" gadgets are:

The Apple iPad!
The Apple iPad is an unprecedented device. It doesn't shoot rainbows or make puppies, but this roughly 8x10-inch tablet computer melds your laptop, smartphone, gaming console, and iPod into a single, affordable, unfortunately named thing. Yes, it does have a pretty weird name but believe me its capabilities are beyond your imagination. I've seen someone use it before and it is sexyyyy! :D It makes other gadgets look like roti canai next to sushi and caviar!



Alienware M11X (sounds pretty serious, no? )
This laptop is a laptop not for the faint-hearted! For cutting edge graphics and a true gaming console, there is no way, you'd say no to the Alienware M11X! ;) As a guy who puts computer performance and speed above everything else, this is a godly computer to me. For you computer geeks out there, this baby ha s4GB of DDR3 RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT 335M graphic card and a solid state 500GB hard drive. For the price, it really is computer of the year :D Oh yeahh, and pardon me for the geekiness! :)



Nintendo Wii (The Black One) :O
I've always wanted a Wii for myself to swing about and "pretend" like I'm actually exercising and losing calories! But my dream never came true, my wallet just doesn't permit :( But have no fear, I'll be swinging those nunchuks around soon, before you know it! Not only does the Wii have your conventional games up for playing, they even have sport simulation games. (just for those of yall who don't know :D ) I know I'm fat, I seriously gotta lose those pounds! :P

Well, if I continue going on rambling about the gadgets I dream to get you might just fall asleep face down on the keyboard. I shall spare you the trouble then. Moving on! :)

What is your favorite outfit/set of clothes at the moment, please send us pictures and tell us why you like them.

Well, you could say I'm pretty much a formal guy and I'd find any reason at all to wear a shirt and a tie! Yes ladies and gentlemen, a man's gotta look smart. :D Warning! User desclaimer: Before you scroll down, take a deep breath and brace yourself for some really ugly face moments capable of damaging the mind permanently, I shall not be liable for any mental damages caused! :)

My one and only beloved gadget would be my iPhone 3GS. Truthfully speaking, I don't know what I'd do with my self without it. When I first got my baby, the man at the store told me, " Once you get your iPhone, you don't really need to get your butt near the PC." I didn't quite believe him. I was like, "No way la! A desktop is a desktop. You can't replace it" But over the last few months I've grown with my iPhone and I do everything with it. We have a special bond with one another if you know what I mean :D From tweeting, to Facebooking, to replying emails, and even blogging ,there's nothing in this world that can separate me from my iPhone. Speaking of which, I even had a tussle with my brother when he tried to touch it, that's how protective I am over it ! :P

Day 7: I'm Here For Your Entertainment! ;)

Alrightay YouthSays! Finally I'm back from a tiring day of school and a series of tuitions - Yes, I know, not fun. :( Anyway, lets cut to the chase and skip the chit chat. I shall now move on to my 7th topic pertaining Entertainment!

Which are your favorite TV shows and how do you watch them (TV, Youtube, download, friend, stream)?

Well, I have plenty of TV shows and movies which I love to watch. I'm not really into those soap operas and long, winding Korean dramas, however, I am a huge fan of TV series like Desperate Housewives, Scrubs, NCIS and Lost! You might be surprised, but I actually I download most of the TV shows I watch. Where you might ask? I got la my own sources ;) As for Youtube and streaming videos, I'd really love to stream all those viral comedy videos, but the broadband speed in Malaysia is just pathetic laa. Infact, its so pathetic that often get ticked off so much so I don't even bother to watch the vids my friends recommend me. As much as I would love to. :( Just a shoutout to Streamyx, DO SOMETHING ABOUT INTERNET SPEED :S And not to forget, my one true love, the television! Of course, I do follow my beloved American Idol on TV and football on ESPN! The football channel is the window to a guy's soul. ;) Remember that :D

Do you like music and fashion? Where do you learn about new trends in music and fashion (from friends, celebrities, magazine)?

Yeah! Of course I do! What kind of teen doesn't like music and fashion? Aside from those of yall, who have been hiding under a rock for the past 7 years :D Well, I'd say none of the above. Most of my music and fashion choices are based on personal observations on trends and what I feel suits my mood I guess? Nevertheless, if I find something a celebrity wears looks good for example, my fashion sense would probably sway towards that direction. Just saying, Adam Lambert's sense of dressing is – WOW. :D Eventhough, the poor dude is a gay, he sure knows how to dress folks!

Please tell us about singers and bands you are into, and why do you like them? Where do you get most of your music? (download, buy CD, take from friend, etc.)

What kind of music I like? That's an interesting question. :D I'm more into rock, RnB and pop music just cos I find it has a really quick beat to it unlike the oldies music our parents' generation used to listen to. Just to drop some names, I like music by Falloutboy, Linkin Park, Bruno Mars, Lady GaGa, Beyonce and ooohh, ooh! Jason Mraz :D I totally understand that each one of us have different tastes, I quote my English teacher "One man's meat is another man's poison" ! (Just a note, she said this when I questioned her about her choice of hot men :D) Hmm...... Honestly, music made available to us online through music streaming services like Kazaa, Napster and iTunes are just unfeasible for us teens. We don't have the money nor the responsibility to be left alone to make online purchases for music. So, us teens turn to Limewire for our music! :) Free music of high quality is the definition of Limewire and I can safely say that practically easily 70% of PC's in Malaysia have Limewire.


Do you enjoy reading books? What are the last three books you have read?

I'm not really much of a fan of books.. Books are my sworn enermy! Hehe! Just joking :D Well, if you asked some of my friends, they'd probably say the last 3 books they read were Bio, Chemistry and Physics reference books. However, I'm pretty much an all rounder and I don't indulge in interlectual reading material. So, to fill up my time I read fictional sci-fi books. Right now, I'm reading the Demonata Series of Darren Shan and let me tell you, its pretty good stuff!


What/where do you find new information about entertainment that you like?

The INTERNET! The Internet is basically the marketplace for all the latest news, trends and fads in the world! Just from Twitter itself, just by merely checking the trending topics for the day, you can find out what's in trend and what news is outdated. The internet is my resource for entertainment news. I know it, you know it, we all know it ;) Google baby, GOOGLE!

Day 6: Chronicles of Facebook and Twitter!

Hey there YouthSays! It’s 6 in the morning and I’m back online. See, I really am addicted to the internet ;)

What communication medium (SMS, Instant Messenger, Phone, Twitter, Facebook), do you and your friends use the most to communicate through and why? What are the positives and negatives of each?

I know its pretty sad and all but I use practically all of the above. :O Whether it be SMS, IM, Phone, Twitter and Facebook, my friends and I are all hooked onto it :D Why? In the era of modernization we’re facing today, us teens find the constant need to stay in touch with each and every one of our friends. Social networking is somewhat a means for us to know what our friends are doing anywhere, anytime and at any given moment. Obviously everything has it’s pros and cons right? Well, in a nutshell, the positives of the above would probably be that one can connect with their friends instantly without much hassle. And as for the negatives, we all know it! We hear it eeeeeverryyyday – especially from our parents! :D And they constantly naaaaaag us about it. What is it you ask? IF YOU USE TOO MUCH YOU’LL GET ADDICTED TO IT!! :O

Is social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter making your life better or worse?

Of course it makes life better! I mean who would have thought of something so ingenious that you can share anything and everything with your social world with a click of a button. Facebook and Twitter has now changed the way businesses operate and has become not only a networking tool but also a marketing tool ;D

Please list the number of online social networking sites (Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, blog) which ones you are a member of and why you chose to have a profile/account on each of them?
What activities do you usually do when you are social networking sites?

I don’t really like having a lot of social networking accounts just because if they’re not good, there isn’t any point for you to join :D Here are the one’s I find are essential:

Dohh! I can stay in touch with the 1450 friends I have on Facebook ;)

To stay updated on what my favourite celebs are doing ;D

Basically, my Friendster is DEAD just like everyone elses. :P


How many Facebook/Friendster/MySpace/Twitter friends do you have? Who are these people? How many of these do you consider ‘close friends’? How many of them have you not meet before?

1450 friends on Facebook. :) Most are them are people I actually know well or on surface level. There are infact very few that I totally don’t know.

Do you prefer to meet people for the first time online or face-to-face? Why?

Face-to-face because I believe by starting off a relationship face-to-face you create this bond like no other. By meeting people online for the first time, you wouldn’t really know who the person is. And you can’t really judge the character of the person.

Do you have Twitter? If yes, how many followers do you currently have? Who do you follow?

Yep, I sure do :D I have 440 followers to date. And I follow celebs like Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, Kris Allen, Lady Gaga, Sean Kingston and Justin Bieber. Oohh, not to forget, I also follow our beloved Prime Minister! :D

Day 5: The Internet's Ma (My) Crib ;)

Woohoo! I'm back again YouthSays and now I'm on my 5th topic. I gotta say, that was pretty fast. Alrightay lets get down to business shall we, the 5th topic I've been given is "Going Online", another topic that all teens can relate to – Well, at least I hope so. :D In the era of rapid advancement of technology in the world today, a teen really has to be in touch with the online world. At least, that's what I think personally la. Okayy, the first question Mr. Ronn posed to be was how many hours do you go online everyday? That ladies and gentlemen would be question I'd be embarrassed to answer, the figure of numbers I go online each day is almost obscene! Noo, not Lady GaGa dressing obscene, but… you get the idea la! :) Honestly, in an average day I surf the net for about 4 hours? :D Not including the time I surf the net on my trusty iPhone (which I do quite a lot). So, if you wanna be mathematically correct about it, in a week I surf about 4x7=28 hours! :O [I make my Math teachers proud ;)] A shocking figure no? Yeahhh, I do realize I should cut down on my online time. But a teen's gotta do what a teen's gotta do :D You're probably wondering, what does this online freak do stoning in front of his PC everyday? Well, the stuff any teen does of course, regular Facebook-ing, Twitter-ing, chatting with my pals on MSN Messenger and the occasional video call through Skype.
Hmm, if you ask me what I think about fake online profiles, nicknames and aliases online just to protect your identity, I'd say its pretty dumb. To mask your true identity from the online world is a complete no-no. Infact, when I see accounts with weird nicknames and no proper display picture, I actually reject their friend requests! (I know I'm evil. But if you're not gonna tell me who you really are, then why should you get to know me? ) Personally, I'd rather put my real name and proper details (like an actual picture of yourself, instead of pictures on cartoons!). Why you ask? Well ,by having proper details, people on the world of Facebook for example would actually know who you are before requesting to be your friend and you won't get random online sexual predators hawking over you.

And as for meeting other people or strangers online, I'd say I haven't really ventured out into the online world to the extent that I meet people from all over the world and make friends with them. However, I have met other locals online before through Facebook and Twttier [same age group of course :) ] To me, it would be pretty awkward to communicate with individuals you barely know online cos these people you actually meet could actually be not what they appear to be. They could state there they're 16 for example, but in actual fact these online freaks are fully grown adults waiting for the chance to pounce on gullible teens browsing the web for new friends!

My parents? :D Well, my parents are pretty cool about the fact that I'm hooked onto Facebook and Twitter. The only condition is I don't slack on my grades la (typical Malaysian condition :P) And noo, they don't really monitor that stringently what I do online! :) I'm a debater so I should know what human rights us teens are entitled to! Them checking up on what we're doing would be an infringement of human rights! :D Hehe, just jokin' ;) I'd say the most hey've done to check on what I've been up to is to add me up as a friends on Facebook. That way, they'll always be in touch on what I'm doing on the net. I mean it's the least they could do. :)
Moving on to the last question, which is a question I think is pretty redundant, I quote, " Do you think the online world has made you to become more disconnected with your friends?" OF COURSE NOT! Frankly, the online world has really strengthened the bond between my friends and I because aside from school we can actually interact with each other over the net. That's why the Internet is just so ingenious it's the perfect medium for teens to stay in contact with each other even after school hours!! :) To wrap up my post, I'd just like to say one thing….

Day 4: Money, Money, Money! I'm lovin' it ;)

Money! Yesss, this is a topic I can relate to! :D Money is the numero uno in a teen's life. If you ask any self-respecting teen out there what's the most important thing in his or her life, its MONEY! If you ask them, what's the one thing you wish you could have the most of? They'd say money! Basically, a teen's life revolves around money, and to myself, money is crucial to my very survival! You may think I'm being absolutely melodramatic and being a drama king over this, but its true! Money's what makes the world go round , be it in the business sector, technological sector, economic sector or even education sector. Without those green dollar bills that everyone crave for, the world would come to a complete halt and nothing will get done. The greens and moohlah is what get's people going! :)

Yes I look like that sometimes! :P It's very tragic. The tale of a poor boy who only wanted green sheets of paper. Is that too much to ask for? :D

As a student, if you ask me about my source of income, I'm very sorry to inform you that I still take a allowance from my dear parents :D Nevertheless I still do try to lessen my parent's financial burden by working for my dad's company as an office helper during the holidays. That way, I can afford all my whims and fancies without burdening my mum and dad's wallets! I'm sure going out to work during the holidays is something every teen does to get the extra cash. Anyway, moving on, I've also been asked to talk about my spending pattern! Do I splurge out my cash all at one go or do I save up? Well, lets see, you could say I'm a pretty conservative guy when it comes to spending and I really think about the purchase before I march up to the cashier & give away my hard earned cash! So, you could say, I'm a conservative spender, I'm not one of those shopaholics with an impulsive habit to take cash out of their wallet like rolling toilet paper! :P

To my generation, work ethics doesn't seem to be so much of an issue because as youngsters, we believe that expression in thought and creativity when doing work is what makes a job enjoyable. Simply said, we have work ethics but not always! However, being hardworking on the job is definitely something everyone needs to have. We all know very well that being persistent and hardworking during work hours is the golden rule, but some of us just don't have the willpower to do it.

In the current economic climate, I feel everyone has to do their part in saving up and preventing further damage to the economy and resulting in inflation. The world is already suffering enough in this current state of economy, we don't need to make it any worse, people! :( To my family and I, the current economic situation hasn't taken much of a toll yet. However, we foresee it to, with my brothers and I growing up and my parents having to save up for our education. Yes, life's tough nowadays. But I'm sure we'll get through it all! (I told you I'm optimistic :D) Laslt, I;ve been asked to list 3 of the coolest jobs and 3 of the least coolest jobs.

Ever heard of The Crocodile Hunter? Yeah, I'd say his job is a pretty cool job! Aside form the fact of course that he passed away on the job :S May God bless his poor soul :( But come on guys, you really gotta hand it to him, his job is pretty cool. He faces danger in the eye practically everyday with reptiles creeping all over him. ROCK ON CROCODILE HUNTER!


2. Movie director of Hollywood blockbusters
YOU watch these fantastic Hollywood blockbusters day in day out and gawp at the special effects the producrs of the movie put in to make the movie a hit! Don't you just wish you could be part of it all?


3. Food Critic
In a nut shell, I just love food! So, as a food critic, it just gives me a reason to travel the world and comment on people's food and stuff myself to death. :D Time to put on my stretchable elastic eating pants :D

Day 3: Strive to be The Best! *You know you want to :P*

Hey there again YouthSays! :D I’ve got bad news, my computer got struck by lightning and thanks to natural calamity my computer is out of action. Well, at least I have my dads laptop. (I’m stealing my neighbours WiFi …… Shh!) Now moving on to topic 3, I’ve been assigned the topic Ambition and Success, yet another wide topic. Well, we can all safely say that everyone out there has achieved some form of success one way or another sometime throughout their life and nobody's a failure at birth! :D Yes, even you! :P Anyway, if I had to sight an example of the best success story I've ever had in my life I would say my achievement as the Head Prefect of the Afternoon Session in SMK Seafield, during my service as a prefect in Form 2. Yea yea I hear you complaining in the background, "How cheesy can this guy get? He enjoys being a Head Prefect? Whyy?" :( Well, to be honest I just loved my time as a Head Prefect. It was probably one of the sweetest, most cherished experiences of my secondary life. Believe me :) The fact that you're part of the school affairs and the flurry of events that happen everyday revolving around you, it's really a feeling that can't be put into words. Eventhough there may have been some ups and downs, it's worth it. Even if I had to plunge my ears with earplugs everytime I mess up something, being around your fellow prefects and being part of the prefectorial family, it's really something intangible. You can only find out for yourself by trying :D

Hmm, how do I define a "successful person"? In all honesty, the most successful person I've ever laid my eyes on is the guy I see in the mirror everyday – MYSELF! :D Just jokinggg.. Talk about "syok sendiri" :P Frankly, what makes a successful person is the constant drive to get things done and a vision to lead people. If you don't have the drive and the will to do something, you'll get nowhere in life.and you'll be what I like to call "sotong". Ever been called a "sotong"? When I say "sotong" I mean, someone with no backbone and totally no personal opinion when it comes to making decisions. Another that makes people like, Warren Buffett successful and loaded with cash today, would be the leadership spirit and factor they have instilled in themselves. What is an organization without a leader? It'll probably be like running a Mamak Stall, without the Mamaks making the roti canai. Okayyy, that wasn't such a good comparison. But I think you get the general idea? :D And of course to be successful, you gotta be creative and know how to socialize well. If you can't put that thinking cap on, and get cracking on producing that needed brain juice, then YES I'LL CALL YOU A FAILURE! :D If you also can't socialize with people, how are you gonna get out there in that competitive world and get to know business associates and get all those important links with powerful people? Well, that's what I think successful people have over and above us average people.

What inspires me? The sight and thought of other people succeeding drives me and pushes me on to take the extra mile to go forward and embrace success! ;) Sounds very cliché, but it's true. :) My inspiration or rather my idols are people like Barrack Obama, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. Why you ask? Barrack Obama for example, do you have any idea how hard it was for him to become the first Black African American President of the United States! He must have really done something right for the people of the United States to believe in him as one nation and vote for the man :D As for Bill Gates, he's the genius who created the software that practically every computer is using now and earning billions from it. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't even be here blogging! Last of all, Warren Buffett! As a guy who's aspiring to become a financial analyst, I really look up to this guy. He's noted as a financial investor legend and this guy just rolls with the big bucks man! That's all I can say.

Well, to wrap this all up, I'd just like to say, HAVE AN AMBITION PEOPLE! It's not that hard! D: Know what you want and strive for it ;) You'll get it....... somehow – Well, hopefully. XD Take myself for example, I envision myself to become a reknowned financial analyst someday! Will it happen? I sure hope so. :D But I know I gotta work hard. Be it one year down the line (I wanna be the Head Prefect of morning session now :D), 5 years down the line (graduating from the London School of Economics, UK) or for the rest of my life (top financial analyst of Wall Street!) Yess, these are pretty hard feats, but I'm confident with the drive and effort, I'll get there!! Just watch me fly. That's it for now I guess :)

Day 2: I'm Delayed! :(

Hey there YouthSays! :D I know I’ve been putting this off for a while already due to my exams, so I’ll make it up to ya. I’ll try to post as many as I can today :D Well, for my second topic I’ve been asked to write about “Friends and Family”. Pretty wide topic no? I’ll try to articulate as much as I can to you bout my friends and family, mostly through pictures la. Simply put, my family is your not so average Chinese family with a fantastic pair of parents and 2 really hyperactive brothers. Observe.

Well, when meeting new people, I feel first impression makes a huge difference and the way you present yourself is crucial in starting off a relationship. Personally, I feel I’m an extrovert and a tiger when it comes to socializing with people. It’s no use staying distant in a world of your own and not interacting with the people around you. Why? Cos it’s people that make the world around you ROCK! Be it just going out for a movie, just having a simple lunch out in a kopitiam or just hanging out after school, friends really play a huge role in one’s life. Take it from me, I should know :D

And yes identity is important, NUMBER ONE RULE OF A TEEN. Image! :D As a teen, your dressing must be right, your way of speech must be right and people must like you la overall. You need not be smokin’ hot like Korean celebs or supermodels, but you must upkeep your identity to be deemed “cool”. As for religion, I find it’s really dumb to choose your friends based on race, creed, religion or culture. First of all, there are plenty of things out there for you to learn bout other cultures. Having friends of different religions has really helped me understand them better and probably some of my best friends are Indians and Malays.

And to conclude my post, I would say my friends classify themselves as eccentrics, extroverts, DEFINITELY SHUTTERBUGS! (or syok sendiri kakis) and maybe a few K-Pop fans! In the diverse community we live in, I find that every step I take is a new lesson learnt in life and a new experience attained. Basically, friends and family are EVERYTHING cos they’re the only one’s you got to catch you when you fall :D

Day 1 Youth Says! :D

Hey there people from YouthSays! :D First of all I wanna thank the people at YouthSays especially Ronn for giving me the opportunity to write for this journal and be part of the 50 youths that were given the chance to write for Youth Says :)

So lets get started with my first topic ;)
Day 1 : Youth Today (About Youth and You) What’s the best thing about being youth today? Do you think the future is bright, for your generation or do you think the future is something to worry about?

Well, honestly, one of the best things about being a youth today is the carefree lifestyle that practically every single teen leads nowadays especially in the city areas like KL. With the rapid advancement of technology, nothing is ever out of reach of teens! We should honestly consider ourselves lucky we don't have to resort to the traditional games and practices that the people 2 generations ago have to toil around with in their free time.

AND NO! MY GENERATION IS THE BRIGHTEST GENERATION AROUND FOR SURE! :O We might not be Albert Einsteins and Isaac Newtons of our generation and we probably may not have made a huge difference yet in developing the country and etc , but I know and I’m sure our generation can make a difference one way or another. Do you think “youth” (people like you) are rebellious in nature? Do you think youth today rebel like they used to before? Explain. Do you/have you rebelled against anything or anyone in the past? Explain.
Yep, I think every teen is somehow rebellious in nature somehow or other. But the severity of our rebellious nature probably isn’t as bad as the generations before. I mean, honestly, you don’t see teens going around with Mohawk hair going around vandalising government property nowadays do you. ;) Have faith in us, we ain’t that bad :D And no, I have not rebelled against anyone in the past. I’m an angel- *adjusts my halo* Well, frankly, the worst encounter I’ve ever had would probably be a tiny squabble with my parents over petty stuff :D
Do you think youth today have an easier or harder life than our parents’ generation? Please explain your answer.

I would think we have a much easier life compared to our parents’ generation. We get allowance from our parents and we get any whim and fancy we wish for. :D Not only that we have a the facilities and amenities like internet and handphones at the tip of our fingers, but we are also always keeping in touch with each other through MSN Messenger and etc. Back in the old day, our parents would have to work to earn their lunch money, and to stay in contact with their friends, they’d have to walk all the way to their friends house. WHATS UP WITH THAT? L What is your biggest fear in the world…other than death and what makes you happy?

I’m a daredevil by nature and if you ask me, I don’t exactly have anything that I’m afraid of. :D But if you ask me what I’m afraid of THE MOST, it’d probably be creepy crawlies and heights! I mean just imagine falling from the tallest building in the world. I still remember the first time I paid a visit to the KL Tower. My intestines felt like falling out of my body (I have no idea how that happens, but just use your imagination ;)) And there’s nothing that makes me happier than money. Which teen doesn’t like money, our lives practically revolve around money!!! Why you ask? It cos’ money gets you anywhere and anything! What has been the most difficult hurdle you have overcome so far in your life? What did this experience teach you?

The most difficult hurdle would be my PMR examinations. DOH! SPM’s gonna be a killer L Which has more importance today in your life - family or friends? Why? In your experience, did you ever have to make a choice between your friends and family? If ‘yes’ please explain your answer and why did you do so?

Family always first la. :D Who would you be in the society of today if it wasn’t for your parents and family? And yes there was time when I had to make a choice. I still remember the time my parents and friends planned me a birthday party at the same time. So obviously I had to choose la. I chose my family in the end! J Tell us more about yourself!
