One Nation, One Malaysia!!

1. What do you think of 1Malaysia? Please explain your answer (likes, dislikes, emotions etc) in details. What is your vision of Malaysia in the next 5 years?

1 Malaysia? A common identity for all Malaysians despite of race, religion, color or creed. "PEOPLE FIRST, PERFORMANCE NOW". I rather love the concept of it. I see the development of this concept nationwide. I feel really proud to call myself a Malaysian rather than "I'm a chinese". Really, no offense here. My vision for Malaysia in the next 5 years, would be :
  1. People from different races can live together in peace and harmony.
  2. People of various ethnics and religious united together.
  3. The is a moral and ethical society.
  4. Fair and equitable distribution of wealth of the nation in society. No longer have rich and poor people.

2. What do you think about the various races in this country? Do you think about your race or country first? Why? Do you think there is a tension between the various races in this country or not?
We are all the same. Like saying, "Duduk sama rendah, berdiri sama tinggi". Definitely country would come first! I've never ever think of races. Indeed yes, we do have tension between various races in this country. Apparently, I do thing there are tension in between multiple races but those are not really serious issues.

3. How do you think people from all over the world see Malaysia? Do you think there is a typical “Malaysian” stereotype? How would you want people to view “Malaysians” in the future?

I do think people from all over the world see Malaysia. One of the reason why I agreed with people from around the world sees Malaysia is because of Malaysian's achievements such as, Nicole Ann David (Woman's Squash No.1 Raking for 5 consecutive years since 2006 till now, 2010) and Lee Chong Wei (World No.1 Raking in Badminton sport).

Malaysian do have a typical stereotype. For example,
Like majority Malaysian do, we "Stop and Look" and afterall do nothing to help it but just watch. Let me give you a simple example, when a person go was robbed by bunch or criminals outside the bank, other people who saw and was in the scene did not chase after the criminals but walk towards the victim and ask her how the story goes and start to lecture the victim like, "Why didn't bring your father or friend when you withdraw such a big amount of money?", "Why so careless?" or just stare at her and assume she don't need help.

In the future, I would want people to view "Malaysians" as :
  • A pluralistic society that is united.
  • People help one another regardless race.
  • Society with high polish.
  • Successful in all fields of sports and games as well.

Famous Product Name, BRAND.

1. Is branded products important to you? What does brand represent to you?

Not a priority to me. Some says that branded products represents the status of individual. I don't agree with that statement. Do you? Branded products are expensive. To me, I pay for the quality of the product, not the brand of it! I rather not buying any branded products IF there are products who provide good quality, productivity and at the same time displaying a good sense of style. Well, most common brand of product I would purchase are Nike, Adidas, Padini and SEED.

2. Are there any brands that you think stand up for something (an attitude/cause or point of view) that you agree with? Tell us more. What brands do who think are the best at communicating with youth? What do they do that gets your approval?
YES! Adidas's "IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING". That may be a simple "quote" copyrighted to Adidas but is it meaningful enough to inspire me on whatever I do. I totally agree with IMPOSSIBLE is nothing when you break through every possibilities. Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE to be done. "When there is a will, there is always a way".

For me, NIKE are the best at communicating with Youth. Why? They are the one who usually stand out to organize sports competition. Nike often organize futsal competition, if you are up to date as I are, Nike are currently organizing a 5 versus 5 futsal competition, THE NIKE CUP KUALA LUMPUR with the quote "Blah Kalau Goyah" and "Write The Future". The competition is divided into 2 different category, 14-16 years old and 17-19 years old. Champion for category 17-19 will be given an opportunity to have a football training session exclusively in Brazil. That is the best experience one can ever have. And to my main point, Youth needed all this brands and organization to stand out for all of us!

3. List down your favorite brands and tell us why do you like them
  • Nike
  • Adidas
  • Padini
  • SEED
  • Reebok
  • Billabong
  • Wild Channel
  • G2000
  • Apple Inc.
  • HTC
  • Sony
(List above are in random order)

Those brands that I have listed are among the most trustable brand. The produces high quality stylish products at a reasonable price. Is RM100 for a piece of T-shirt called reasonable? Well, it depends on individual. But for me, QUALITY comes first than PRICE!

4. Can you upload two advertisements (picture or video) that you like and tell is why you like it.

Reason why I like it is because of the creativity in producing the advertisement. TM Connects do really show their creativity based on the video above. Song produced was really really nice and totally match the whole video. That really makes me proud to be a Malaysian. Another one was Nike Red (PRODUCT) based on the theme "LACE UP SAVE LIFES". The picture above says it all. Full of creativity, product was as good as it look. It attracted me a lot. The moment I saw that photo on Facebook, I never hesitated to look for it and get one or 2 pair of that shoe lace back home! It shoe a whole lots of meaning from the advertisement and its product.

5. Are there any brands or products that you would be embarrassed of using or being associated with?

So far, not a brand that I think it would be embarrassed of using :)

6. Does religion influence your choice of brands? If ‘yes’ explain your answer.

Definitely NO!

7. What/where do you find new information about products that you like?
Using the most efficient way, the Internet, using web browsers. I never bother to search for new information about any products unless they are really needed. When it comes to looking for birthday present, Christmas present or Mother's/Father's day present, I will put in effort searching for information. Besides, I'd love comparing prices using the Internet.

List Of My Favorites :)

1. Tell us about 3 things that you have seen, read or listened to recently that you love and have recommended or share with others (in Facebook, face to face conversations, online, etc)?
One of it was YouthSays Real Voices 2 which is what I am doing now. I had a lot of discussion with my friends about every single question asked in each "DAY". "Grandma" story start coming out from my friends and besides, they even share with me their experiences such as "Successful achievements so far" and "How do you categorize people of my age". I had a fun time listening to it and my friends all started to come out with lame jokes. That pretty much makes my day since the Real Voices 2 started.

Recently, my mom told me stories about robberies robbing my mom's friends. Here's the story, one of mom's friend, Aunty Lucy, went to One Utama for a walk. She was walking alone on the road trying to cross over to another road heading to Ikano Power Center. It was round 10a.m, one motorbike stopped right in front of her. She insisted it was 2 malay youngster in Nike hoodies pointed a small little sharp knife on her neck. She handed her all the Gold accessories on her and her Couch Leather handbag containing makeup powder, a thousand ringgit cash money, 4 credit cards, 1 debit car, 1 ATM card, few member cards and most important, her Identification Card (IC). She was hoping that the robber will quickly run away with their motobike after she hand her all her precious belongings. Without the robber noticing, a police car stopped right behind the robber. The police pointed their guns toward the 2 robber. Lucy did not hesitate to run away from the scene. In the end, both robber was arrested. Well, I'm not being racist her talking about Malay robber cause. But I'm telling this story to all the Youth so that you all could prevent this from happening on you when you are not in a lucky day.

The third thing was the leak of most of the Exam question paper (also known as SOALAN BOCOR) prepared by Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Selangor. I know this is not a good thing to spread or share but we all loves to study in the very last minute before exam starts. I got all the soalan bocor from a friend of mine who go for tuition. Then began to spread to me and all other friends. Few minutes before exam, everyone was discussing about the leaked question. And for your information, I am definitely not responsible for the leak! :)

Reason why I like this set of cloths is because it represent my personality at time. Not only that, that was my winning set of cloth among the crowd where I receive lots of positive comments :)

Be Entertained By The Entertainment Entertainer.

1. Which are your favorite TV shows and how do you watch them (TV, Youtube, download, friend, stream)?

GLEE, C.S.I Miami, Hong Kong TVB cantonese drama and more. If I have could chase up with the show on TV, that would be the best but I'm always busy as if I'm a businessman with lots of appointments. Well, other options to watch it are to stream it and watch immediately. At most times, I'm not even free to watch it after done streaming it so, my last option are to download it and store in my laptop then transfer to my thumb drive. When I have time, I will watch it on TV by plugging in my USB thumb drive to the blue-ray player.

2. Do you like music and fashion? Where do you learn about new trends in music and fashion (from friends, celebrities, magazine)?

Both music and fashion in the same time but priority on music side. Most of the time I plan outings with 1 or 2 of my friends to Berjaya Times Square to observe around the youngsters there. I choose to follow simple and unique trend such as putting on a black framed glasses without its lens. For music trends, I learned from friends and rather wireless radio stations. I'd like to drop by music stations to look for latest music CDs. By surfing through the Internet do update me a lot on new trends.

I like them mainly because of the music they all had contributed. Very good music and songs from them all. Most of their songs contains meaningful lyrics which often touched me. For example, songs written and sang by Michael Jackson. I download it LEGALLY from iTunes which I have to pay. Buying their record labels are one of my music sources. I seldom get songs from my friends because I am a really updated person in music. Most likely my friends are the one who ask for latest songs from me. Another source of music was joining competitions organized by Radio Stations which the prizes are music albums.

4. Do you enjoy reading books? What are the last three books you have read?

I'm not a person who really fancy book. Last three books I have read was revision book for Principle of Accounting, revision book for Malay Language and revision book for History. You must be wondering why all revision books. That is because I'm having my mid-term exam now.

5. What/where do you find new information about entertainment that you like?

Through the borderless information from Internet. I often visit this websites, http://www.billboard.com/ for music updates and celebrity news. Magazines do provide new information. Therefore, I drop by MPH Bookstore once in a while to catch up with the latest edition of entertainment magazine.

Stay Connected!

1. What communication medium (SMS, Instant Messenger, Phone, Twitter, Facebook), do you and your friends use the most to communicate through and why? What are the positives and negatives of each?

Facebook and Microsoft Messenger are among the most famous communication medium my friends and I use to communicate through. I can bet with you majority of us have a Facebook account and all of us have an Instant Messenger account! Basically, those are the needs for me to connect to my friend in nation wide such as Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, America, Netherlands and United States. Besides, it helps me to get reunited with my relatives, kindergarden friends, primary school friends and so much more which I could not meet them in person so often. All my current schoolmates do connect to each other in social networks to discuss about homework. For those who absent from school with personal reason or sick, they ask for homework through social networks too. There are many positive impacts but at time can be negative too. One of the positive impact was low communication cost. We do not have to pay any basic services provided by the Internet. Furthermore, the cost of the connection to the Internet is relatively cheap. People can share opinions and informations through social networks. News or messages can be sent via message box provided by social network sites to anyone efficiently. Communication on the social network are borderless. People all around the world can be connected through each other by using social networking sites. The one and only negative impact was using a computer for long hours frequently can harm users physically or mentally, or both at the same time.

2. Is social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter making your life better or worse?

Social networking sites definitely makes our life better. Why is it better? Mainly because it helps individual to stay connected with our far far away relatives and friends.

3. Please list the number of online social networking sites (Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, blog) which ones you are a member of and why you chose to have a profile/account on each of them? What activities do you usually do when you are social networking sites?

Facebook, Friendster, Blogger, Twitter, Blogger, Skype, Flickr, Orkut and hi5. Those are on the top list of social networking sites and can't deny that all of my relative and fellow friends are a member too. Therefore, I choose to have a account on those social networking sites. Despite the use of social network site to socialize each of us, I spread information through those sites. For example, I spread most of the Campaign from YouthSays.com in Facebook. I love to view photos on my friends social networking profile when they have tons of new photos. In addition, when I have nothing really much to do in social networking sites, I would play mini games provided. For example, Fish A Fish, Roller-coaster Tycoon, Friends For Sale and Texas Hold'em in Facebook.

4. How many Facebook/Friendster/MySpace/Twitter friends do you have? Who are these people? How many of these do you consider ‘close friends’? How many of them have you not meet before?

I have approximately 821 friends in Facebook. I would only mention my Facebook social networking profile here because that is the only social networking sites I was active in. Those 821 people are my friends from different places such as Canada and Australia. They all are my close friends and I have met all of them in person before. For those friend request which I am not sure who they are, I always click "IGNORE". That is why I remain having 790 friends in my Facebook account.

5. Do you prefer to meet people for the first time online or face-to-face? Why?

Preferable in person because we can easily know them more and assure their personalities and identity. Besides, it trains us to talk to other people more rather than typing messages through communication mediums and facing the computer all the time. But honestly, Youth nowadays would rather pick to meet people online rather than in person mainly because when we are chatting with a new friend, we can open another chat windows on the other side and chat.

6. Do you have Twitter? If yes, how many followers do you currently have? Who do you follow?

I do have a Twitter account with few followers. But I never update it since the day I register to be a member. I don't see any need of Twitter to help staying in contact with other. Besides, Twitter are plain boring. Well, maybe I haven't find out what is like to Twitter and the advantage of using it.

Youth+Internet=??

1. How many hours do you go online everyday? What do you usually do in the online world?
Averagely 6 hours per day. I am an ICT student in Form 5 so no doubt that I would have lots of assessment to be completed. I could find borderless informations through the Internet in just a click. But borderless information at time can be negative because it often creates problems such as illegal gambling, computer crimes, information theft, fraud and slander. I share opinions and informations through discussion groups and forums in the cyber world. Besides, by using Internet, I connect to people around the world easily. I often connect to others through Instant Message (IM) such as Microsoft Messenger, Skype or AIM and social networks such as Facebook and Friendster.

2. When you go online and interact with other users, do you use any nickname/alias profiles online? Tell us why you use it or don’t use it.
I do use my nickname, CK, to interact with other users online. That is the main security measures for individual when using the Internet service. I have the right to deny or restrict the collection and use of information about me. We might not know other users on the Cyber World is a hacker who unauthorized used of my properties. For example, transfer payments to my account even when I did not purchase anything online. I would use my real name when interacting with friends I really know as in schoolmates and people who I really met in person before.

3. Have you become good friends with people you first met online? Tell us stories of how you make friends in the online world. How do you know whether to trust them or not?

With a word, "HI". That's the basic for individual to start a conversation with a person you first met especially online. That will be the first impression you may give others. I joined lots of discussion groups and forums online. Being a member in discussion group and forums must be very interruptive. Well, we first start to interrupt other users topic with an introduction of yourself. The began to discuss about a topic where everyone disagree or agree with. As the discussion began to develop, the development of trust on each other will develop as well. In a short period of discussion, trust is developed and it leads to good friends. Then we began to have discussion in person as in we interact in the real world and not online anymore. Companies such as Yakult and Julie's Biscuit often gave payment to us for our discussion session in their office.

4. Tell us if your parents monitor what you access online? Is it effective, or do you know ways around the controls? What do your parents think about you going online all the time?

My parents never monitor what I access online. This is mainly because I'm a grown up Youth and able to think rationally. My parents believe I would have self-control accession informations through the Internet. Previously, they will be worrying about the negative impact of Internet Information on society such as borderless information because it often encourage people to access pornography and violence web sites. But throughout the period where I first touch a computer till now, they began to let go of the worries that bothers them and my parents even got me a personal Apple MacBook (laptop) for my ICT assessment use. They understood the need of Internet for my assessment to surf web sites such as Google.com, Wikipedia, Yahoo Answer, WikiHow and so on. Besides, they knew I would be chatting with my fellow friends online and going in to social networks. By the way, even my parents have a Facebook and MSN account!

5. Do you think the online world has made you to become more disconnected with your friends?
Definitely NO! If online world has made me more disconnected with friends, then I could picture how disconnected me and my friends are in reality world. If you have a friend migrated to places far far away from you, how can you always get connected with that particular friend? Well, Cyber world is the fastest and most efficient way to connect to others. With the Internet, news or message are sent via e-mail to anyone efficiently. With the capability of broadband and speed of connection on the Internet, any information can be traveled faster. Furthermore, the Internet has low communication cost. With the Internet, we do not have to pay any basic service provided in the Internet. So, the cost of the connection to the Internet is relatively cheap. With that reason, we could connect to our friends more often and have a nice chat through the Internet. Lets give it an example, calling your friend using a handphone costs minimum RM0.15 per minute depending on the service provider, the longer you chat, the more faster your phone bill rises. But with Internet, you can call your friends through Skype which don't cost you a single cent at all. So, what makes you think the Cyber World has made you to become more disconnected with your fellow friends?

All About Money!

1. How important is money to you? Tell us what do you think about money.
"Money is anything that generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts"-plucked from Wikipedia. That sentence does describes the important of money to me. When it come to what do you think about money, I was thinking to save up more and more money! Money are not fulfilling. Not at all! When you already have RM100, you tend to get more hundreds. Well, money do brings happiness to us. That is when we shop and spend but those are just a blink of happiness. My point here is that money are not just mean to be spent, but spend it in a wise way.

2. Where do you get your money? Do you have a part-time job or do you receive an allowance from your parents, or both? Have you done any part time jobs before to earn your allowance?
I did part-time job as a product promoter in Hypermarkets to gain extra incomes. I do receive allowance from my parents too. Those allowance was to be spend on my schooling day while those extra incomes are savings for future use.

3. If you want to buy something, do you usually save up or will you get it straightaway compare?

Usually I would try to save my money by myself without withdrawing any single cents from my bank account. When it come to the point where I really have to buy it, I will withdraw money straight from ATM Machines and make my purchase. I would love to be a smart consumer. I usually plan to buy stuff during Sales period. Advantage of it is that I can save up a lot and have more varieties during sales period. Comparing the price are one compulsory thing I would do. I usually take up 2 or 3 days to check out other places and make comparison before making up my mind.

Santa Claus is definitely the first coolest job on earth. He only have to work 1 particular day in a year. That's basically a joke. Well, coolest job?

Definitely a photographing journalist. The picture captured by the journalist itself speaks out the feeling of the photographer rather than the words describing it. Besides, journalist only have to go round the world and doesn't stay permanent in a place.

Second coolest job will be Entertainer. Being an entertainer do not require any high educational qualification. Entertainer only have to entertain people around.

Last but not the least, a Billionaire! Having billions of dollar is like a dream comes true. Don't have to worry about economic crisis.

Well, it's time for the least coolest job. Firstly, garbage man. Secondly, sewer cleaner and lastly, colonoscopy. I couldn't make any further elaboration on it but we all should be glad that there is people who work for us on that and we shall thank them instead.
