Apabila aku di atas garisan maya…

Salam, kali ni aku bercerita tentang kehidupan mayaku.. Aku online kat rumah, abah aku pasang internet sejak aku darjah enam lagi utk memudahkan kitorang mencari maklumat, update tentang berita dan macam2 lagi la..

Kalau aku kat rumah, setiap ari aku bukak internet..Sekurang2 nye aku online 2 jam sehari. Dan first sekali aku wat ialah check email.. Pastu barula aku buka yang lain2.. contohnye buka facebook, berita harian dan goal.com.. tapi selalunye aku akan download lagu or movie...

Walaupun kakak aku berkenalan ngan abg ipar aku melalui chatting.. Aku tetap berhati2..

My parent put trust on me.. die cume warn je.. x selalu pantau ape yang aku online.. Kadang je diorang tanye ape yang aku surf.. Jadi aku pun kene la terangkan ape yang aku surf.. Hal2 lain macam kegiatan aku kat facebook, my mail in inbox, diorang x amik tau pun sebab my parent put all their trust on me...

Day 5: Going Online (completed)

Day 5: The Internet's Ma (My) Crib ;)

Woohoo! I'm back again YouthSays and now I'm on my 5th topic. I gotta say, that was pretty fast. Alrightay lets get down to business shall we, the 5th topic I've been given is "Going Online", another topic that all teens can relate to – Well, at least I hope so. :D In the era of rapid advancement of technology in the world today, a teen really has to be in touch with the online world. At least, that's what I think personally la. Okayy, the first question Mr. Ronn posed to be was how many hours do you go online everyday? That ladies and gentlemen would be question I'd be embarrassed to answer, the figure of numbers I go online each day is almost obscene! Noo, not Lady GaGa dressing obscene, but… you get the idea la! :) Honestly, in an average day I surf the net for about 4 hours? :D Not including the time I surf the net on my trusty iPhone (which I do quite a lot). So, if you wanna be mathematically correct about it, in a week I surf about 4x7=28 hours! :O [I make my Math teachers proud ;)] A shocking figure no? Yeahhh, I do realize I should cut down on my online time. But a teen's gotta do what a teen's gotta do :D You're probably wondering, what does this online freak do stoning in front of his PC everyday? Well, the stuff any teen does of course, regular Facebook-ing, Twitter-ing, chatting with my pals on MSN Messenger and the occasional video call through Skype.
Hmm, if you ask me what I think about fake online profiles, nicknames and aliases online just to protect your identity, I'd say its pretty dumb. To mask your true identity from the online world is a complete no-no. Infact, when I see accounts with weird nicknames and no proper display picture, I actually reject their friend requests! (I know I'm evil. But if you're not gonna tell me who you really are, then why should you get to know me? ) Personally, I'd rather put my real name and proper details (like an actual picture of yourself, instead of pictures on cartoons!). Why you ask? Well ,by having proper details, people on the world of Facebook for example would actually know who you are before requesting to be your friend and you won't get random online sexual predators hawking over you.

And as for meeting other people or strangers online, I'd say I haven't really ventured out into the online world to the extent that I meet people from all over the world and make friends with them. However, I have met other locals online before through Facebook and Twttier [same age group of course :) ] To me, it would be pretty awkward to communicate with individuals you barely know online cos these people you actually meet could actually be not what they appear to be. They could state there they're 16 for example, but in actual fact these online freaks are fully grown adults waiting for the chance to pounce on gullible teens browsing the web for new friends!

My parents? :D Well, my parents are pretty cool about the fact that I'm hooked onto Facebook and Twitter. The only condition is I don't slack on my grades la (typical Malaysian condition :P) And noo, they don't really monitor that stringently what I do online! :) I'm a debater so I should know what human rights us teens are entitled to! Them checking up on what we're doing would be an infringement of human rights! :D Hehe, just jokin' ;) I'd say the most hey've done to check on what I've been up to is to add me up as a friends on Facebook. That way, they'll always be in touch on what I'm doing on the net. I mean it's the least they could do. :)
Moving on to the last question, which is a question I think is pretty redundant, I quote, " Do you think the online world has made you to become more disconnected with your friends?" OF COURSE NOT! Frankly, the online world has really strengthened the bond between my friends and I because aside from school we can actually interact with each other over the net. That's why the Internet is just so ingenious it's the perfect medium for teens to stay in contact with each other even after school hours!! :) To wrap up my post, I'd just like to say one thing….

I LOVE THE INTERNET! AND NOTHING YOU DO CAN TAKE MY BELOVED BABY AWAY! :DDD
Chiau, for now people! :D

daily routine

DAY 5

What's your daily routine?
What must you do every single day?

I think it's obvious.

Sleep.
Eat.
Drink.

haha of course not forgetting the most important thing, GOING ONLINE.

Using the computer, going online, surfing the internet have become a daily routine for almost everyone nowadays, no matter how young or old you might be.

I see kids as young as 10 years old starting to use blogger to blog about their daily lives (my younger sister haha), and some really old folks going to computer classes to learn how to operate computers and use the internet. It's the GREAT PLAGUE which affected everyone across Europe in the late 1600's.

Sometimes I have to say, the person who invented the Internet is a genius. You could argue with me, but in the end I'm still right. WHY? Because you're using the internet, to argue with me haha.. (see, you get my point? haha)

HOW MANY HOURS?
haha hours? I wouldn't use the word hours, it seems too short for me. I could go online all day and not step out of my room, haha..

WHAT DO I DO?
Here's my daily routine!

Switch on my laptop
MSN auto login, YAHOO auto login
Open up Firefox
Check my YAHOO inbox
Open up Facebook
Open up my blog, my chinese blog
Open up WRETCH & AIO (taiwanese networking websites)
Open up video websites to start download taiwanese shows, dramas..

After all that,
I might do the following or rest for a while before I continue with the following haha..

-watch the downloaded shows
-read news of the world (current issues)
-write up a blog entry or two
-surf other blogs
-surf Facebook
-find people to chat on MSN/YAHOO

All the stuff I mentioned above takes some time and they have now become my daily routine, or shall I say, part of my daily routine (haha).

DO I USE NICKNAME?
_yes, when i was young. I've used many nicknames, ranging from Charlieboy to Kanadaboy to ChAzZz. Charlieboy was a nickname for YAHOO MESSENGER. KANADABOY was Xanga's nickname, which I have stopped using ever since I stopped using Xanga. ChAzZz, which is probably the most famous one and probably the last nickname I adopted, which was in use for my FRIENDSTER profile.

NET FRIENDS?
Oh, I have many net friends, to be honest. This is due to my early exposure to the World Wide Web by my mum, at the age of 10. She hooked me up with my first email, Yahoo, and it's the one I'm still using now. (funny huh? haha)

Many people don't believe in net friends, and they think it's bullshit. Yes, there are many fakers and liars in this world, let alone the CYBER WORLD. However, out of all these fakers, there are bound to be some real, honest, down to earth, friendly people that are there to greet you. I have met some of them, and so should you.

Isn't that one of the reasons we go online for?
To meet new people and make new friends?

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHETHER TO TRUST THEM OR NOT?
well, you learn from mistakes right? I have made mistakes before and have trusted the wrong person. However, I learned from that mistake and I have become a smarter surfer. To be honest, if you don't have the tendency to do bad things or lie, you should not fall into any of those traps.

PARENTS?
haha, my parents have given up on monitoring my usage of the computer & internet long time ago. I tell them exactly what I do, and they trust me. I also share my stories and experience with them, of course I still have my own privacy, but sharing some of those privacy/stories make them feel better and more connected to you. Therefore, they would trust you and respect your privacy and would stop nag you to get off the computer. Does this make sense to you?

All your parents want from you is for you to connect with them and let them into your live. Once you let them in and maintain that close bond, they would trust and respect you. And you'll have your freedom. So, please don't rebel or fight with your parents over this small, unnecessary matter, seriously! I see many of my friends fighting with their parents over this matter, which I think is absolutely STUPID and USELESS.

DISCONNECTED FROM THE REAL WORLD?
Sometimes yes, because you would get too carried away with all the awesome things you have in the cyberworld that you forget about the reality. Therefore, you should choose to balance between the usage of internet/computer, and going out and have fun with your real friends haha..

"Poking your friends on Facebook and asking them to out to have lunch with you" is a perfect example of how Internet has helped us in our daily lives. Imagine how much you can save from that, when you FACEBOOK your friend instead of TEXTING or CALLING them ;)

stay tune for more update!

Online-ness

Day 5 : Going Online

· How many hours do you go online everyday? What do you usually do in the online world?

Umm… after school I would spend 3 hours then nap then wake up and play till 11-12 o’clock so not very long compare to my sister who sleeps in 5-6 am everyday XD

Well mostly, I would go to Quizilla,Facebook,Blogspot,Purevolume,Tumblr,Youtube,Lowyat.net,online shopping and well that’s pretty much it. I open blogspot so I can write my fiction stuff and read stuff on Quizilla. Hehehehe…

·

When you go online and interact with other users, do you use any nickname/alias profiles online? Tell us why you use it or don’t use it.

I do use them cause first off… I don’t like to completely expose myself online and I use them for protection. It will take awhile for me to tell people my real name. Well this is an exception ….

·

Have you become good friends with people you first met online? Tell us stories of how you make friends in the online world. How do you know whether to trust them or not?

Yes and sometimes I end up making best friends online :D Its not a question of naivety but it’s a question of how much I trust a stranger with my secrets. Why I do so? Because first off, they have never met me in real life and they don’t know the people that I talk about so I tell them with an open heart, I tell them the daily struggles and they give me advice along the way.

Well I first started off with Hi5’s chat room where I met my ex, who was at that time my only best friend. We talked together for a long time and understood each other. We began to accept our differences and listen and advice one another. As years gone by, we began to get attached and we met up. That’s how it goes.. hehehe

But for the innocence, I met most people my age in Emma Watson.org’s chat room and blackforests.com, a roleplay forum site for harry potter’s fans. We were all so close to each other and always gives out advice if one of us are in need of them. We then began to start co-operate with each other and trust each other. We are like a huge family that we’ve never met before obviously XD

· Tell us if your parents monitor what you access online? Is it effective, or do you know ways around the controls? What do your parents think about you going online all the time?

No, they don’t. They just find that I’m not doing anything harmful or dangerous online so they are fine with it though they all think that I got married with the internet cause Im attached to it :/

· Do you think the online world has made you to become more disconnected with your friends?

No above all rest, internet has helped me to be more connected with my friends cause sometimes I don’t have time to call or talk to them in school or meet up anywhere and internet has help me build new friendships.

05.

online.
im on a 3 months holiday. i wish to make the 91 days fly faster but then that doesnt happen. so what i do every day is, online of course. how many hours? as little as half an hour and up to 5 hours per day. i dont really have things to do online but the same applies when im offline. so usually i'd tumblr browsing or facebook stalking or skype with people or download songs or googling unimportant stuff. that is pretty much everything.

Going anonymous.
I only use my real name on websites that i trust. And i dont reveal much of my personal info init. There are scammers and such bad guys everywhere, even in the cyber world. To be general these bad guys would use and manipulate your infos for their own benefit. Nowadays, you just cant trust everyone. so to be on the safe side, using alias would be the best choice.

Hi im alya. You are?
I certainly have made much friends online. Take arif wajidi. we knew each other thru myspace on December 2007. Our first conversation was about our reviews on amy winehouse’s songs. We enjoyed the little chit chat much, it lead to another conversation and another. Since he’s a friend of a close friend of mine, I just knew I could trust him. Cewah, but really. I met him at klcc a few months after, during the edufair.

Privacy please.
Since im all grown up (mentally lah konon, but not physically obviously) my parents expect me to know myself what are the good and the bad things on the internet. Im already 19, so yes I do know, I should know. Anyway that’s one of the things that I like about my parents, they respect me and my privacy. But then again, my mum doesn’t like me going online for too long, it makes me unproductive and lazy as she say it. She does have a point.

Basically the internet has made my life easier to keep in touch with my friends, even more the ones faraway from me and it help me find my long lost friends, my friends back in my childhood. Cool lah tu.

The Internet, My Life

Once a pathetic internet addict, the online world was literally my life support system. And this is not even a joke.

The first time I had discovered the internet was when I was about 10 years old, almost a decade ago, in my uncle's shop. Then we got it at home. But we had no broadband then, only prepaid dial-up. Going online was expensive at that time, comparing the speed with the cost per minute, so my mum limited my usage. Soon I was going online longer than I was allowed to, and the prepaid credit diminished to nothing in just a few days. Then came broadband, which was much faster and cheaper. I was immediately hooked to the net.

What do I do online, you ask? I did everything. Blogs, games, software downloads and even plain surfing the web. Till today, I still do not know what had intrigued me so much that I couldn't get my eyes off. I was so obsessed that I clicked everything that blinked, played every game I came across and joined every forum I see. I did not know that I was addicted, until a few things struck me.

At the start, I noticed that I had this urge to go online every once in a while, for no apparent reason. Then I noticed a feeling that I'd rather spend time online than hang out with my friends. Then my results started deteriorating and I lost interest in my studies. The breaking point for me occurred when one day, the lightning striked the modem and it stopped working. It was during one of my long year-end school holidays and I had to wait for a week before we can get a replacement. For days, I felt so angry and frustrated that I actually balled up in a corner and cried, and cried. I was kicking furniture and throwing my books around. This was not a tantrum that a 14-year-old sane person would throw. I was literally gasping for air. My life support was taken from me.

I did not really understand the word 'addiction'. Until then. The lightning strike incident was literally a cold-turkey withdrawal from the internet addiction I did not know I possessed. The funniest thing is, I don't even have to touch the computer. I just need to know that I'm connected to the internet. That, is sufficient to keep my heart beating. Yes, it is that serious. After that incident, I came up with my very own internet addiction withdrawal programme. I restricted myself from going online for one day a week. I then gradually increased the number of days to two, three, four and I finally can go for a whole week without the internet. As easy as it may sound, I must say that it was a painful process. It's like taking away a blind man's walking stick, like taking away a skydiver's parachute, like taking a fish out of the water. Nevertheless, I continued my silent battle towards killing my addiction. Silent, because nobody knew of it.

The greatest obstacle in my journey would be when I was chosen to participate in the compulsory 3-month National Service programme. Three months, I thought to myself. Three months where kicking furniture will only get me sent to the firing squad. I was surprised that I survived there for three months, without an urge to go online. We do feel like we were out of technology's range, though, but that's totally unrelated with my addiction.

As of now, even though I do go online very frequently, I am proud to say that I'm no longer an internet addict based on the fact that I can survive long intervals without the it. Some of you may find it funny, some may think that this whole story is a joke; but I can assure you that this is an addiction that really exists, because if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone else.

How many hours do you go online everyday? What do you usually do in the online world?

It really depends on what day it is and what I am online for.

School day, back at 2pm: 3pm to 7pm, 10pm to 11pm = 5 hours
School day, back at 6pm: 8am to 12pm, 6pm to 7pm, 10pm to 11pm = 6 hours
Non-school day: 10am to 7pm, 10pm to 11pm = 10 hours
Saturday: 10am to 5pm, 11pm to 1am = 9 hours
Sunday: 11am to 7pm = 8 hours

Average
= [(5+6+10)/3*5 + 9 + 8]/7
= 7.4 hours per day

Oh. My. God. This is the first calculation I have made and I am officially declaring that I go online too much. But, I am glad to say I am not all for games and other 'time wasting' activities. I do lots of reading on my areas of interest like website coding and I have recently started reading on internet marketing. In times when I need to study, like now, I will mostly look up notes (British sites have awesome notes!) to help me study.

I used to play a lot of downloaded online games but I have totally cut them off now. Web-based games are all I play now which makes my online times more productive. Oh, and, I used to hack games through packet-editting and almost got myself banned :(

When you go online and interact with other users, do you use any nickname/alias profiles online? Tell us why you use it or don’t use it.

I still use my first name, Angelina, when I register for any forum, site, email or game. Because a first name like mine is rare in Malaysia and people tend not to believe that it is my real name. Often times, conversations will go like this:
Random person: Hey, nice to meet you. What is your name?
Angelina: Hey, nice to meet you too. My name is Angelina.
Random preson. Yeah, I know. But what's your REAL name?
Angelina: My real name is really Angelina.
Random person: Why won't you tell me your real name? :(
Yep. They think I'm being anonymous when I'm really not.

Have you become good friends with people you first met online? Tell us stories of how you make friends in the online world. How do you know whether to trust them or not?

I have met hundreds of people online, but only a few remain as good friends. And most of them are guys because hardcore gamer girls, like me, are rare. I'm not one who start conversations because I am an introvert online and off, so usually they will start a conversation if they see I have equipped awesome equipments on my character. We would start by chatting about the game and doing quests together for some time before we start talking about our offline lives. Some have already been my friends for more than 5 years. Although, I have never met anyone of them before because our intentions are not to become real life friends, just to have a good online friend to talk to you whenever you feel happy, bored or down.

The issue of trust seldom comes to mind when I am chatting with them because it's not like I'm going to give them my address or phone number and neither are we going to meet up. Of course, there are those who pester for numbers, which I will eventually block all contact with because well, everyone knows why. In the past, though, I have to admit that my stupidity made me give my number to a few people, but they never call (either that or I will never answer). Normally, we'd still remain online friends because I always check their background thoroughly, ensure that they are nice people, before I give it to them. Nevertheless, I am thankful that I am still safe and sound and now that I have learnt about the dangers, I will never ever give my number out again. Ever. No matter how thorough my investigations are.

Tell us if your parents monitor what you access online? Is it effective, or do you know ways around the controls? What do your parents think about you going online all the time?

My mum doesn't monitor my online activity, mainly because my computer skills have surpassed hers a long time ago! Even if she did monitor my activity, I'd probably still know ways around it (not that I have anything to hide, I'm just answering the question).

She doesn't really mind my going online all day because she knows that I have self-cured my addiction. Although, she'll nag at me once in a while when I play games. By the way, I don't think games are a waste of time. I feel that games can stimulate our brains and make us smarter.

You know what, we should all participate in a global plot to make adults addicted too, so they have no good reason to nag on us. Muahahaha, MUAHAHAHA! Ahem. Kidding.

Do you think the online world has made you to become more disconnected with your friends?

If you read my story above, the answer to this question is 'yes', at the start. However, as of now, I think it actually helps keep us bonded. After secondary school, most of us will go our own ways with all the different colleges/universities, different courses and I'm sure we will all meet more new friends of the same interest there. Without an online portal like Facebook, we may have totally lost all contact already due to our new and busy lives.

I guess that is all for this entry. Take care peeps!

My online life, interview style.

Because my answers are so short, there's no point in putting this in any sort of paragraph.

·         How many hours do you go online everyday? What do you usually do in the online world?
Let's see, half an hour in the morning, another half an hour in the afternoon, and about 4 after 9pm. So that makes it 5 hours a day I guess.

What do you usually do in the online world?
Check my facebook account, play my turn at an ongoing Scrabble game between me and my cousin, and boyfriend. Mind you, it's the only game I will (as of now) be caught playing on Facebook. Facebook games in general are mindless time-wasters. Oh, I also chat with friends occasionally, check my email.

·         When you go online and interact with other users, do you use any nickname/alias profiles online? Tell us why you use it or don’t use it.
FD  I use names that are easily remembered, by myself, of course. Like leenster. I once had an alias with my name spelt backwards. Neelia. Not very creative, I know, haha. Basically, using my real name makes me feel more track-a-ble and vulnerable to scams, and stuff.

·         Have you become good friends with people you first met online? Tell us stories of how you make friends in the online world. How do you know whether to trust them or not?
No. There was this one time, I think I was 11 or 12, and social sites like Hi5 and Friendster was very cool then. I met this... man, on Hi5, and he added me on MSN, and I accepted. It was normal amiable conversation for a while, but at one point I noticed that he had a funny dp. Now that I think about it, I think it was his penis. Needless to say, I've stopped using Hi5. And Friendster.

Even on Facebook, I only accept people I know personally. Sometimes when I don't feel close enough to them, I will 'Ignore' their invite as well. Depending on my mood that day.

·         Tell us if your parents monitor what you access online? Is it effective, or do you know ways around the controls? What do your parents think about you going online all the time?
My parents do not monitor me online. I do check for past year papers and their mark schemes online, and they know I catch some episodes of shows. And I've never had the urge to go to immoral websites and stuff, so that's cool.

·         Do you think the online world has made you to become more disconnected with your friends?
No. My ex-schoolmates from secondary school and I have an immediate way of jesting and communicating with each other now, even though we can barely make time personally to go out. Birthdays are always an exception though.

~our hero the internet~

man, you guys are damn damn fast..
i had trouble with exams and bla bla bla other boring stuffs,
explains my late posts for this blog..

so...

what have we here?

~THE INTERNET~

To me , its the best invention that scientist have ever came up with, i spend like 24 hours online.. since the internet could be accessed anywhere anytime and without any boundaries,
i believe i have abused the real "good cause" of its creation. even im on busses or in lrts i would go surfing the net on my phone, and yes sometimes during my toilet breaks hahahaha..

I use the internet for almost everything.. but mainly its my only way to connect with my friends and family back in malaysia. but at times i do search the net for recipes (yes guys can cook -.-") or even just to download movies. i mean seriously, its the best ever platform to do anything in the world. you could buy stuffs, downloads, connect and the best thing yet, it helps you answer any questions that happen to pop in your head thanks to the search engines.

(isnt the internet just cool, and no this isnt edited, try it yourself)

Another fact i guess you should know, is that whenever i go online i would use my favorite nick name, yup, i think you should have figured out by now , it is:

OP ULYA

Well i do receive a lot of questions regarding this name, what does "OP" actually mean. well, "OP" is actually a tittled given by the king for all graduates of RMC. so yeah, since i am a graduate, i always use it. its not that important anyway. i mean, i just put the initials there to make it look "cool"

Finding friends online is a must for all internet users. i actually did get to know a couple of friends online and i feel really really really close to them. it just happened that we were introduced by a friend online and we started chatting and we started to be really great friends. oh thank you lord internet for this unbelievable opportunity.

well a matter of trusting i guess comes from the way he/she interacts. this girl IFFAH seems nice and i guess we have the same character but "gedikness" haha. soo, yeah, the way he/she represents yourself would really mean a lot. trust would be gained if he/she shows that they deserve to be trusted and i totally trust IFFAH..

to iffah: kau wajib belanja aku. haha

My parents are really cool, they never ever monitored me when im going online, seriously, i believe that their presents make me uncomfortable and rather annoying.im glad they trust me, so if they do trust me, i need to show that i earn their trust. i should be watching things i shouldnt be watching and keep a well schedule so that it does not interfere with my personal life. i guess they think that its ok for me to go online, given the condition that i do not neglect my studies and my reality life. which simply means never be to obsessed.

Lastly, i believe the fact that says internet harms your connection with friends is totally unfeasible. why? i believe that internet is the one that helps us strengthen the bond between friends. we get updated with their current activities via social networking sights and most importantly get us connected even how far apart we are from each other . and that means a lot for someone studying overseas.

ps: i wonder how to get bored by going online. theres soo much to do.

till we meet again.. [-_-]

#5 Going Online

HARRROOOOOOOOOOOO :D
A new way of saying hello, thanks to a friend of mine,
Encik Bahim :)

I go online about 1-2 hours a day. Three hours would be max. Well that's only valid on normal days. Unlike this week where I am having my mid-year exams, I haven't gone online for three days! YEAY! haha. Seriously, sometimes I feel like punching myself for spending too much time in front of the computer. Okay, first thing I would click when I get to the computer is iTunes for music and then Google Chrome and type Hotmail on the first tab, Facebook on the second, Blogger on the third and then sometimes Youtube.

Err, no, I don't use nicknames :)

Being good friends with people I met online.
I guess that never happened to me before and I don't intend for it to happen because to me, that is just pure scary hehehe. I really choose my friends and people who I call friends are mostly the ones that are really close to me and I am very comfortable with them.
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, the friend Bahim up there, he's actually a looooonggggg lost friend of mine. We went to the same kindergarten but never contacted never really met again after that. He added me up on Facebook, God bless Facebook haha.

Nope, my parents have never monitored my going online. I have ze freedom bebeh! :P
I don't go online ALL the time. They're okay with me going online but I have to keep it at an adequate state.

ONLINE WORLD MORE DISCONNECTED WITH FRIENDS? HELL NO!!
It's one of the things that make me more connected with them even by not going online the whole day and having my MSN status available all the time.
And, it's the most important thing that connects me to my sisters and brother that are overseas.

Going Online

a) Berapa jamkah anda melayari Internet setiap hari?
- aku selau melayari internet paling kurang 5 jam sehari.

Ceritakan kenapa anda mengguna or tidak suka menggunakannya.
-Selalunya aku pakai profail aku sendiri.
So, dapat la promote blog aku.

d) Adakah ibu bapa anda memerhatikan kegiatan online anda? Apakah pendapat ibu bapa anda mengenai anda melayari Internet setiap masa?
-Parent aku tak selalu memerhatikan kegiatan online aku. Aku pun bukan suka sangat kalau ada orang tengok. Tak selesa. Lagi2 kalau aku tengah menulis blog. Sebab member aku sorang suka menyibuk orang lain tengah online. Kalau facebook tu, semua friends aku dia nak explore. Kalau tulis blog, bukan jadi cerita aku dah.
So, galakkan diberikan.

most fav topic ! online! agree? :D

how many hours do i go online everyday? what do you usually do in the online world?

> since im currently waiting to enter uni , i have all day long to online ! weeee~! 6 hours i guess? or more. hahaha. not less than that. i hope that im not addicted to "online world" :D

> what i usually do? im not an active blogger so i rarely go here. hehe. top of the list, facebook-ing! (i dumped friendster for facebook XD) hahahaha. 2nd twitter. 3rd, veoh/utube. then i'll check my email. email seems the last. hahaha.

When you go online and interact with other users, do you use any nickname/alias profiles online? Tell us why you use it or don’t use it.

> i used my real name ! im not ashamed by my own name ;) i find it difficult for me to search for my friends that were using their "alias name" =.= makes my life difficult ok. so i dont want to do the same to other. so i used my real name. complete with my father's name. so that they would know that it was me and wouldnt confused me with others. hahaha. so i put my father's name. heheh.

Have you become good friends with people you first met online? Tell us stories of how you make friends in the online world. How do you know whether to trust them or not?

> so far, i havent. mybe in the future. who knows. since i only approve ppl that i know as my friends. and i dont randomly add ppl. hahaha. privacy is important to me. :)

Tell us if your parents monitor what you access online? Is it effective, or do you know ways around the controls? What do your parents think about you going online all the time?

> thank god their not. hahaha. how am i suppose to explain that i always playing online games if they monitor me XD hahaha. they wouldnt say much since im doing all the "online things" inside my room and doesnt bother them. haha. but they would say "dont go online so many times for one day. or your eyes going to be like your siblings." well, its true. since im the only one left with good sight in my family. they want to maintain that. haha. thats why i'll take a break to relax my eyes when i go online :D heheh. hope that works for me.

Do you think the online world has made you to become more disconnected with your friends?

> not at all !! since all of my friends have theirs online accounts. if not facebook, twitter. it makes things easier. we can share photos through online and save it on our own :) if we dont have credit to reply each other text msgs , we can always tell each other through online :D see... we even can save up credits ! we can also webcam-ing to connect with each other since we all start to apart to continue our study. its fun too ! :)

thank you for spending your time reading this. im sorry if its "boring" :)

KimiWarrior is now online.

Salam all!
Going online? Yeah everybody loves it, undeniable!
Why do we go for online?
Surely for ‘Facebook’ing, checking emails, searching for information, and entertainment.Am I right? Surely!

The first three things I'll open when I turned on my laptop :

 Everybody is now on Facebook!

Yahoo! Messenger

Yeah! Blogger.com!

I spend to go for ‘online’ing maybe around 8 - 10 hours per day (only for the semester break). But during my lectures, I’ll go online maybe around 4 – 5 hours only. I spend too much on my laptop, during my cuti, it turns to be more excessive. Haihh... Mostly, I spend my time to go for Facebook and research + updating my blog. That’s it. I’m a game freak, so don’t bother asking me for any games.

I’m using KimiWarrior for my nickname. Why? I have mentioned about this in my previous post. Besides, I feel more comfortable to use this nickname instead of using my real name. Privacy should be kept safely while going online.

I have made lots of new friends via Facebook. It seems to be the best place to get acquainted with new people around us. At my place, I have so many friends from different courses, and I have no chance to know them directly in the class. So, I added them in Facebook and we are being good friends even though we are not in the same class. That’s how it works! Online world has strengthen our relationship indirectly.

Parental control? No my parents don’t monitor me online. They have given me a laptop for studying purpose, they don’t disturb me at all. They don’t bother how long I spend for going online. Some parents do really care what do their children surf when ‘online’ing. But for me, it’s not really effective to monitor them directly. They can monitor their children indirectly by using an anti-virus program, i.e Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. They have to enable the “Parental Control” function to trace, detect, and report all the activities that they did.

In a nutshell, online world has made me to be more connected with my friends, especially during the semester break. We can keep on updating among each other. That’s why I love going for online. FACEBOOK!
